Eddie is a fourth generation Butte native and grew up on the east side of town. He is running because Butte deserves a fresh voice on the Board of Trustees for School District #1. Eddie was the student representative to the school board in 2007 and is a counselor for Montana Boys’ State.
Currently, Eddie works at Summit Valley Title and is an active member of Silver Bow Kiwanis, Montana Boys’ State, Pflag and The Silver Bow Dems Central Committee.
When I took office in May, I had some main goals that I wanted to achieve. Those goals included: Trustee emails provided by the school district, pursuing changes to the anti-bullying policy, creating a more open district and visiting every school and meeting the teachers. So far, the district has implemented district emails (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ve started the process of changing the language of the anti-bullying policy to add ‘gender identity’ and ‘sexual orientation’. This month I have also reached out to the district, State Representative Edie McClafferty, county Superintendent Cathy Maloney and community members to draft a bill, that will be introduced to the Montana Legislature, early next year.
My entire family are products of the Butte School District, from my grandparents, parents and currently, my niece and nephew. Kaly is in 3rd grade and Bryor is in 1st grade, both at Hillcrest Elementary.
